Conditions for accessing accommodation

Telephone Referral or Self Referral

St Bartholomew’s House staff are required to check the resident computer database before agreeing to an admission.

The House will need to conduct an interview on the presentation of the prospective resident and some form of identification will need to be provided.

The use of alcohol and drugs and antisocial behaviour is prohibited on the premises.

Bookings for accommodation is daily from 16.00 hrs - 22.00 hrs by ringing 08 9323 5108.

The maximum credited accommodation is one (1) day.

Linen, 10 tea bags and a mug are provided on admission.

Referrals from hospitals or mental health services

Referral requests for men with a mental illness are only accepted by St Bartholomew's House during office hours, not on weekends or public holidays.

The referring service is required to complete a referral request form outlining the prospective client’s details before the client is accepted. The Co-ordinator will determine if the client can be admitted and would be suitable for the St Bartholomew’s House community.

Services Provided

Supported Accommodation - Crisis
Provision of crisis accommodation beds and 24 hour support for men who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, who may also have a substance abuse problem and/or a mental illness and are experiencing a life crisis.

Supported Accommodation – Short, Medium, Long Term
Provision of short, medium and long term accommodation beds with 24 hour support for men who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, who may also have a substance abuse problem and/or a mental illness.

The accommodation is provided, including three meals per day, at the House’s Brown Street premises, in single rooms for short, medium and longer-term accommodation. Shared rooms are available for crisis accommodation. Assistance is provided for residents to access mental health, alcohol/ drug, Centrelink, advocacy, law centre, medical and other external agencies. This accommodation is for men who are able to maintain their independence, self medicate and have the ability to attend to the requirements of daily living.
